In today’s competitive world of cinema, OTT, and digital content, actors need more than just raw talent they need training, discipline, and industry-ready skills. We conduct a Camera Acting Workshop in Pune by Artist Makers every six months, offering participants the opportunity to perform and act live in our original content and assisting them in connecting with other production houses for potential acting roles.

This 15-class intensive acting workshop is designed to holistically train aspiring actors over 45 hours, focusing on every essential aspect of the craft. Spanning script analysis, character development, voice modulation, and improvisation, the workshop offers hands-on experience in both stage and on-camera acting.

Here’s a 15-class Acting Workshop Curriculum, each class 3 hours long, structured to holistically develop a student in the craft of acting, including script understanding, character work, improvisation, dubbing, photoshoots, auditions, monologues, and profile building.

ACTING WORKSHOP CURRICULUM

(15 Classes | 3 Hours Each)

Class 1: Introduction to Acting & Actor’s Mindset

  • Ice-breaking exercises, group trust-building
  • Understanding “Why do we act?”
  • Introduction to method acting, Meisner, Stanislavski
  • Importance of observation and imagination
  • Homework: Observe people and write their behavior

Class 2: Body Language & Physical Awareness

  • Warm-up & body relaxation techniques
  • Understanding physical presence on stage/camera
  • Space awareness and non-verbal communication
  • Mirror exercises, energy levels, neutral body
  • Movement-based improv

Class 3: Voice Training & Emotions

  • Voice warm-up & breath control
  • Projection, modulation, pitch, rhythm
  • Using voice to express different emotions
  • Basic emotion memory techniques
  • Vocal exercises with emotions

Class 4: Improvisation Techniques – I

  • Thinking on your feet
  • Yes-And rule, building scenes without scripts
  • Developing spontaneity and reactions
  • Creating characters through improv
  • Group and duo exercises

Class 5: Script & Scene Understanding – I

  • Basics of script breakdown (beats, objectives, obstacles)
  • Reading vs. understanding vs. feeling a scene
  • Scene analysis tools (who, what, where, why)
  • Subtext and motivation

Class 6: Character Building – I

  • Building character from script
  • Internal vs. external character
  • Backstory creation, emotional memory
  • Use of costume/props in character exploration
  • Partner work

Class 7: Improvisation Techniques – II (Situational)

  • Situational improv: high-stakes vs. mundane
  • Genre-based improv (comedy, thriller, drama)
  • Improv for camera: facial micro-expressions
  • Conflict and stakes

Class 8: Script & Scene Work – II (Rehearsal)

  • Partner scene practice
  • Applying objectives, beats, and tactics
  • Blocking for stage vs. camera
  • Director-actor interaction simulation

Class 9: Monologue Preparation – I

  • Choosing a monologue (dramatic/comedic)
  • Text analysis and emotional mapping
  • Personalizing and owning the monologue
  • Individual performance feedback

Class 10: On-Camera Acting Techniques

  • Differences between stage and screen acting
  • Understanding frame, marks, and eye lines
  • Emotion control and subtlety for close-ups
  • Recording basic screen test exercises

Class 11: Audition Techniques & Cold Reading

  • Understanding casting process
  • Cold reading techniques & spontaneity
  • Handling nerves and being present
  • Audition mock round with feedback

Class 12: Dubbing & Voice Acting

  • Studio mic technique
  • Lip-sync dubbing from visual
  • Emotion in voiceover
  • Dubbing short film scenes or ads
  • Practicing character voices

Class 13: Portfolio & Photoshoot Essentials

  • What makes a good actor’s portfolio
  • Grooming, styling for photoshoots
  • Practice expression shots (happy, angry, intense, neutral)
  • Mock camera shoot (headshots, mid shots)

Class 14: Final Monologue & Scene Performance

  • Final monologue performance on camera
  • Recorded and reviewed with critiques
  • Partnered scene performance with blocking
  • Applying everything learned

Class 15: Industry Readiness & Showcase

  • Final performance showcase (open to invited guests/mentors)
  • Resume/profile building tips
  • Industry insights: agents, casting calls, self-tapes
  • Q&A with an industry guest (optional)
  • Certification & feedback session

Outcomes:

By the end of this 15-classes curriculum, students will have:
