🎭 Before the Audition

1. Know the material.
   Read the script (or at least the sides) carefully. Understand the story, your character’s motivation, and relationships.
2. Make strong choices.
   Decide how your character talks, moves, and reacts. Directors notice confidence and clarity in your choices—even if they differ from what they imagined.
3. Prepare variations.
   Be ready to adjust your delivery (softer, bolder, faster, etc.) if the casting director gives you notes. Flexibility shows professionalism.
4. Dress appropriately.
   Choose an outfit that hints at the character without becoming a full costume. Keep it clean and simple.

🎬 During the Audition

1. Be on time and calm.
   Arrive early so you’re settled and focused. Casting teams can sense rushed energy.
2. Slate naturally.
   Introduce yourself clearly with a friendly, grounded tone. Don’t overdo the smile or attitude.
3. Listen and react.
   Even if you’re reading opposite a casting assistant, stay connected and respond truthfully. Acting is reacting.
4. Take direction gracefully.
   If they ask for adjustments, don’t defend your first take. Try the note fully—it shows you’re directable.
5. Keep it real.
   Authenticity beats “performance.” Be present and believable rather than dramatic.
